Too much rain...

Too much rain results in a flooded storage room. Fun times!
It rained a lot (I have never heard so much rain and wind...it was actually scary...couldn't sleep) and when we checked our storage room 1/2 of the room was soaked.  The carpet was sooo wet.  Eric had to take out all the totes and then the racks.  It took a couple of hours.  The carpet and pad were so wet, we just took it to the dump.  A storage room shouldn't have carpet anyways.  The people before us had a teenager living down there, but I would never do that.  It only has an outdoor entrance and no heating/air.  And I wouldn't trust any child to be by themselves, especially a teenager.

Once the storage room was emptied, then Eric had to move everything back in.  I felt so sorry for him, so much work.

Here is the problem...they built a 2 foot high planter against the house and the chain/drain spout goes into that....well the chains are horrible drain spouts. They don't work at all. Yes, they might look nicer but they don't work.  So the water just comes down everywhere.  So it got so soaked that it went through the wall into the storage room.  So our next project will be digging it out, putting a normal drain spout and fixing the problem. We hope it didn't do too much damage to the wall.  So far I think the sheetrock will be ok.
